Here Lewis W. Hine reveals an image of working/immigrant class children
that more closely mirrors the activities of middle/upper class children. That
children should be so engaged was likely a major goal of the National Child
Labor Committee, which lobbied for the eradication of U.S. child labor in the
early twentieth century.
